I can feel it! There was a major storm in Spartanburg last night...complete
with rain and lightning and phone calls from mom offering tornado instructions.
It was so dark and ominous when I fell asleep last night and then...BOOM..bright
and sunny and cool this morning. The birds were chirping before I got
up. The sun was out before I hit the gym. Ahhh...rain, birds, sunshine...springtime!
Spring = new beginnings = fresh starts = feeling reborn. That might
be why I chose this image from Derya's blog of some of her new work.
She's a March fanatic. Or maybe just a February-hater. And this piece
reminds me of birth so...there you go.
In other news...we're still
in the process of reviewing applications for AiR 08/09. Stay tuned for
more updates on that next week. Our current AiRs are gearing up for
their Exit show which will be on Tuesday March 25th. They've made some
great work during their time here and we're excited to get to show it
off. In the meantime, Arielle continues to make great strides with College
Street Team. She's met a lot of great students and done an awesome job
of getting them involved downtown. Derya is plugging away on her sculptural
pieces and submitting applications out for summer residency programs.
Nicholas is in the market for bulk sugar for a project he's working
on. Anybody got some spare sugar out there? Rachel is moving along on
the book and interviews for the HCWP website. What an accomplishment!
So...that's that for now. Big things in the weeks ahead. See you next
week...
