...is the only way! Thank you City of Spartanburg! Well, this week has
been a doozy and we're only half way through! BYOA was a huge hit with
over 40 artists selling their goods on Saturday night. The AIRs were
among them selling "No Friends Club" books, limited edition
Myrmecology chapbooks, original t-shirts and knitted goods. We had a
big crowd and a lot of fun (I feel like I type that a lot). Anyway -
we started cleaning up The Showroom after BYOA, worked on it a little
more on Sunday and spent all day Monday getting ready for Bowl-O-Rama.
By 7pm we had a gallery full of folks looking and bidding on 32 one-of-a-kind
bowling ball masterpieces. Thanks to the 31 artists, 35+ sponsors, and
the whole Hubculture community for making this night such a hit. Next
up...Reindeer Monologues on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Just in time
for a little holiday r-n-r.
Well, the AIRs have made their
travel plans and will part ways again for a few weeks. When they get
back, it will be full steam ahead for the next six months. Arielle has
some art projects for her time in New York over the break. She'll get
back and continue her glass painting. She's also got some plans to get
some students from the local colleges in to HUB-BUB in January. Between
decorating The Showroom for HUBBUB events and applying to grad school,
Derya is working on some sculpture projects and knitting all over the
region. Man. Nicholas is painting as usual. You should see this AIR's
studio! I can't figure out where he sleeps, sits, eats...every square
inch is covered in art! He has figure drawing sessions lined up for
January so check the calender as the month approaches. Rachel is working
on the manuscript and applying for fellowships in between hiking trips
to Pisgah on sunny December days. These guys have really hit the ground
running. Did I mention they'll be in a show at the Spartanburg Day School
in January and will be working on a mural for PACE?
Well...that's it for a while.
Hope everyone enjoys the holidays and we'll see you in the New Year!
