Time is flying! The 2009 AIRs
arrived three weeks ago and have been taking Spartanburg by storm.
Last week was a great opportunity for these guys to work with
Spartanburg's youth. Patrick and Ellie volunteered some time with
Wofford, Converse and the Boys and Girls Club to help build puppets for
the puppet parade that was being hosted in downtown Spartanburg on
Friday. The AIRs rode their orange bikes during the parade and threw
candy and Hub-Bub stickers to the crowd. Good job kids on making some
killer puppets (my favorite was the big brown centipede dog - carried
by three + kids!). The AIRs spent last Friday morning giving an open
studio tour to kids from the COLORS program. The kids really enjoyed
seeing the AIRs studios and requested a poetry reading from Patrick who
broke their hearts with his love poems, educated them on dirt devils
and encouraged them all to write by assuring them that "nerdy is the
new cool". Amen Patrick. On to the show...
So...when I walked
into Hub-Bub this morning it took me a little while to make it all the
way to my desk in the office. Looks like the AIRs were hard at work
into the wee hours of the night. Installations are going up! It's
exciting. This Thursday's Entry Show is gonna be a good one...full of
cardboard, pink, gingerbread men, television sets and more. That's all
I'll say about that. Make sure to be here at 8 for the reading. See
you Thursday! Oh...and come on by Hub-Bub and check out the new
garden! The AIRs worked on that last week too. Do they sleep? We're
still looking for some fill dirt and more veggies if you've got 'em.
Come on by...
