You've seen them on our website, read about them on their blogs and
in the Herald Journal and seen their studios in The Link. If you read
my weekly update (which clearly you do), you've gotten an in-depth and
insightful summary of their life in Sparkle City every seventh day for
the past 2 months. Maybe you've even been by the Showroom and met them.
And soon...you'll be able to see them on the big screen. (Depending
on what size television you have that is). It was an exciting Monday
morning over here when Spartanburg's City Channel film crew rolled in
and set up their cameras. Look for the AIRs to air sometime in late
August. You won't even have to Tivo it...apparently it runs about five
times daily...
Despite the heat, we've remained
incredibly active over here. Last Wednesday we were given a tour of
the Johnson's art collection over at the Carolina First Building. It's
a pretty sweat little collection of paintings by Southern artists. And
by little I mean that it covers almost every square inch of wall space
on four floors of expansive office space. Reminded me a little of my
art collection. The AIRs have remained busy as usual. Especially with
the launching of their "August Initiative". Arielle and Rachel
helped Hub City last weekend during the Writer's Conference...sounds
like it was fabulous. Rachel continues to write, read, and interview
interesting people. Arielle's been experimenting with some new etching
techniques as well as playing enough Wii Tennis to win the video game
Olympics. Im not yet sure what Wii is but it sounds fun and addictive.
Derya is knitting and planning "potluck and fun" nights. The
first will be on August 18th and you should all come eat some food and
watch a movie with us. Look for details via Ms. Altan. Nicholas is busy
making art as usual, helping out with some cool t-shirt designs for
Hub-Bub, and making us all smile with his Hollywood fashion sense.
