Boo to the Yow

Boo to the Yow I’ve been a little delinquent in my weekly updates. Last week I was slammed with BYOA and spent most of the week focusing on that. What a great event! We had 62 artists selling their work and Hub City had 20 authors. So - Boo Yow! Actually, this week calls for a couple Boo Yows. Maybe even three of them! First – I wanted to officially announce that the AiR Program received its first NEA grant under the new artists communities category. This is a big deal that a) the NEA has recognized the importance of artist communities to make it it’s own category and b) that the HUB-BUB AiR Program was among the 31 organizations from across the country to get funding. So - Boo – yow! Thank you NEA. We also found out today that the Dedalus Foundation will be funding a year of visiting artists here at the BUB. Thank you Dedalus, that rocks! Can I get a Boo Yow?

In AiR news…folks are staying busy around here after a nice Turkey Day holiday. Claudia and Esteban are helping Stephen get the set ready for Santa Land Diaries this weekend. Esteban’s been working on his silent film. Stay tuned for info about the screening. Greg is teaching his final COLORS courses over the next two weeks. And applying to grad schools. Jameelah is applying to residency programs and helping her boy Wit get settled in his new Carolina home. All of the above are planning the AiR Invitational in The Showroom in January and getting ready for an exhibition of their work at the Day School. Isn’t it good to be surrounded by such good people all the time?

See you soon…
