Art and Politics 08’
Call for Submissions
Throughout history, artists have used their work as a medium in the search for truth. The political visions of artists have played a key role in this search and helped to define the truth of our society. The United States was founded in the name of freedom, equality, democracy, and our freedom of expression is central to these American ideals. In the year of this landmark American Presidential Campaign, Art and Politics 08’ will explore the ways in which contemporary art seeks social change.
Submission deadline: August 16th, 2008
We invite all artists to submit original works of art that explore political themes. We are particularly interested in works that address issues present in the 2008 American Presidential Campaign and seek work representing all points of view.
Open to all media.
Works will be exhibited October 14 – November 14, 2008 at The Showroom Gallery in Spartanburg, SC.
Send 5-10 jpeg images of available work, bio and artist statement to:

Art Mart
Saturday September 6, 2008
3-9pm Downtown Spartanburg
We're doing things a little
different this time for the fall Art Mart. Instead of hosting the
event in the Hub-Bub parking lot, we're taking it to the streets of
downtown Spartanburg.
Saturday September 6th will be the City of
Spartnaburg's first annual "Taste of Spartanburg". Artists are invited
to join Hub-Bub and set up tables in the parking lot beside the Masonic
Temple to sell their wares. There will be a ton of people downtown so
this will be great exposure for all.
Spaces are limited so you better act fast!
Contact Alix at alix@hub-bub.com
to reserve a spot.
