Collegiate Art and HUB-BUB

Collegiate Art and Hub-Bub 13February2008 This big orange beauty is just one of three pieces by Kathy Wofford that will be exhibited in the upcoming Collegiate Art of Spartanburg Exhibition here at The Showroom on Saturday night.  Her three scultures were part of a kinetic art project and usually reside on Converse's campus.  With the help of the Converse maintenance crew, a golf cart, a trailer, some carpet squares and this humongous truck, we were able to get this puppy over to HUB-BUB in two hours flat...record time I presume!  The artists-in-residence have worked hard to co-curate this show.  Special thanks to Converse, SCC, SMC, USC Upstate and Wofford professors for soliciting art for the show.  And a special thanks to all the students who submitted work.  You won't want to miss work by over 20 student-artists this Saturday night at HUB-BUB.  We've got everything from photos and prints to ceramic elephants and gigantic orange sculptures!

Arielle, Derya and Nicholas have been working hard to curate the Collegiate Art Show.  They'll spend tomorrow (Thursday) hanging the work in The Showroom.  Arielle has been plugging away at College Street Team stuff.  Derya has turned the hallway into a photo studio to photograph her work for grad applications.  See her blog for photos.  Nicholas is painting away and sending off his application for Arrowmont Artist-in-Residence Program in Tennessee.  Rachel had a big week last week with Poetry Outloud.  From what I hear - it went really well as expected.  Good job Rachel.  Well...that's it for now.  OH - artists-in-residence applications are pouring in!  The deadline is Friday.  Stay tuned...
