The Art of Drawing a Crowd

The Art of Drawing a Crowd 14November2007  There have been lots of people in the Showroom lately.  If you were at HUB-BUB on Saturday you witnessed the 3rd Talk20 that Cate Ryba has organized over here.  It was truly awesome.  Thanks Cate and Aaron.  There were 10 presenters...many were regular Hub-Bubbers...Rachel, Sara, and I all spoke.  See Rachel's blog for photos from her presentation...pretty dern funny.  HUB-BUB Flickr account has photos from everyone else.  For mine, I took on the alter ego of "Amalia" and explained 16 "new things" I've done over the past few months.  Highlights being...baking bread, changing a tire, and eating a Marmite sandwich.  Crazy!

So...Nicholas' figure drawing class was a big hit last week and promises to be good again on the 28th after the holiday.  Hard to believe that Turkey Day is just around the corner!  The AIRs are taking off for some much deserved RnR but not before Arielle paints a bunch more glass paintings, Derya starts a felt sculpture project, Nicholas finalizes some t-shirt stuff, and Rachel judges a Spartanburg Community College writing contest.  The AIRs have really gotten to know the local schools.  Tuesday the 13th was the opening reception for Derya and Nicholas' show at Cannon's elementary - it was complete with giant telephone and a tower of tiny ghosts.

That's all for now.  Come see us - how about for the College Soap Box on Thursday or Holiday Childress concert Friday?
