Thank you Abby's! and What the Heck R They Doing to that Poor Girl? |

Choosing the very best title for this week's AIR Update was tough to decide on. I narrowed it down to 2. Title 1...a humongous "thank you" to Abby's. Thank you Abby's for fried chicken - on Wednesday the lunch line wrapped around your building with patrons eager to get one last bite of mashed potatoes and gravy. Thank you Abby's for warm blackberry cobbler under a scoop of delicious vanilla ice cream - on Saturday we asked for 9 spoons and passed the bowl around in silence. Thank you Abby's for portobello mushrooms on a mound of creamy grits - it was hard to share. Thank you Abby's for your nice atmosphere, your friendly servers, your fun bar, and for being a downtown staple for as long as I can remember. And thank you Abby's for your support. HUB-BUB and all of Spartanburg misses you already.

Title 2...you never know what you're gonna walk in on at the Showroom. Kerry brought a group of Wofford freshmen over here last Thursday to see the place and meet the artists. After a brief presentation they began a found object sculpture contest. This young lady was covered in playing cards, wrapped in feathers and beads, attached to the floor with duct tape, and entitle "Derelict". There were just two teams in the sculpture competition and while it was tough to decide, our panel of judges (the artists in residence) chose "Derelict" as the ultimate "Found Object Sculpture Champion". Look for Wofford students wearing Hub-Bub t-shirts and offer them a congratulations on a job well done.
We had some great music at The Showroom on Friday night with Aaron Whisnant and the crew from Dezrey's Hammer. Labor Day weekend meant a little time off for everybody. Arielle's mom was in town for a few days. Derya and Rachel headed up to NC for a Monday night BBQ in the mountains. We all returned on Tuesday and spent the morning hanging the show for the COLORS exhibition which was Tuesday night and was fabulous! These kids have serious art skills. Their work will be on display throughout the week if you want to see it. We're spending the rest of the week in the warehouse and getting geared up for the Art Mart. You're coming aren't you? See you in the Hub-Bub parking lot on September 15th from 10am-2. Don't worry - I'll remind you again next week.
