30 Sure is Purty

30 Sure is Purty 18July2007 1 Krispy Kreme donut cake + blueberry mango cheesecake, a keg of Heineken beer and a room full of good people = a great Saturday night in The Hub City.  Brian, Emily, and Justin returned for a birthday bash for our good friend Anchor Andrew.  It was great to catch up with them and hear about their adventures over the past months.  Brian has been in Charlotte anticipating his move to Athens and a fresh start in UGA's MFA program.  Emily enjoyed a quieter writer-in-residence experience (post-Hub-Bub) in the hills of NC and is now busy working and writing in Wilmington.  Justin has been gearing up for his MFA program in Baltimore by hanging out on the beaches of NC and working with kids on different art projects in Wilmington.  We missed Leah who is up in NY, but 75% ain't bad and hopefully she'll be able to make it next time...

Friday night was the Biscuit Burners and if you weren't 1 of the 165+ people that were at the Showroom enjoying the amazing acapella, blistering bass, and dynamite dobro...I am truly sorry.  Our current AIRs got a taste of some good Southern bluegrass to kick the weekend off.  Saturday night (again) was a fantastic celebration for Andrew's 30th...thank you Liz for the desserts.  I felt like a kid in a candy store - very happy.

The AIRs are working hard as usual.  Arielle is collecting ideas for her next project and making  anagrams,  Derya is frequenting every knitting circle and open knit north of the Congaree River, Nicholas is polishing up his current zine (preview on his blog), Rachel continues to interview Spartanburg writers, and they're all designing window installations for downtown Sparkle City.  Keep your eyes open for freshly painted walls near Hub-Bub soon too.  Public art Hub City...get excited.

That's it for now.  Stay tuned cuz we stay busy.
