Smashin Trashion 17April2008 First - Make Day.  Make Day was a big hit (after the am torrential downpour, the sun came out and it was a nice day).  We had a bunch of "makers" spread out around downtown.  Nicholas was screenprinting t-shirts and Derya was knitting.  Rachel helped man the HUB-BUB table and everybody helped eat the Make Day cake.  Thank you Liz Blanchard.  You are a baking queen!  Next we have the Trashion show.  Derya, Rachel and Stephen have gone to Greenville to model Derya's Trashion design for a local tv station.  It should be a great event on Saturday night so I hope you all can be here.  With live music by the Antibodies, a few sculptures from the OSB recycled art contest and lots of Trashion outfits...its guaranteed to be a good night!  And as for the AIRs...

Stretchin Out 11April2008 So...we've had a lot going on here at Hub-Bub and exciting things happening in the AIR program.  First, we've got Make Day coming up tomorrow (it will not rain...winds will not be blowing at 30mph...there will be no thunder or lightning...it will be a warm and sunny day).  So - come out downtown and watch some talented local artists, writers, musicians, etc do what they do best.  Should be a great day from 10-3pm.  Next...AIR program...we've selected our new class of residents for 2008/09.  They'll arrive on June 1.  Stay tuned for details about them coming to you in May.  Hard to believe that our current AIRs have just a few weeks left in Sparkle City.  They'll leave here on April 30th and head to Greensboro, NC for a short stay at the Elsewhere Artist Collaborative.  They're really excited and we're excited to be stretchin' out and getting involved with other residency programs.  And HUB-BUB will have some exciting new visitors in May too.  We've got a small film crew coming to live in the AIR apartments for a couple weeks.  Stay tuned for more info about that soon too...

Make Day Next Weekend 2April2008 The AIR show will be hanging in The Showroom for  a few more weeks for anyone who hasn't seen it yet.  It looks great!  It really is amazing how well all of their work looks together in that space.  Im sure its strange to have empty studios after 10 months of intensive art making.  Everyone is still working on projects and making art but without that impending show deadline.  Im sure its nice to have a little room to breathe.  But...not too much room...next project...Make Day!  I can't believe it's next weekend.  We have lots of great artists/musicians/writers/etc planning to come out.  Hopefully folks who aren't signed up will be inspired to grab their paint brushes and sketchbooks and come out at the last minute.  We'll see.  Derya will be there with the knitting guild.  Nicholas will be doing screenprinting demos.  Lots going on that day so please come out...

AiR Exit Show 26March2008 Wow...last night was a great night!  Good job AIRs on all of your hard work over the last 10 months.  The gallery looks amazing and everyone's work really came together well.  We were so lucky to meet many of the friends and family that we've been hearing about for so long.  Thanks to everyone who made their way here from far off places.  And of course a big thanks to everyone from the Burg who came out to support our artists.  The whole night was really wonderful.
