Hello, this is Hub-Bub 9October2007 Derya and Nicholas' show out at Cannon's Elementary is super sweet.  It's got it all...ghosts, tin can telephones, sketches, hearts, a chair...lots of good pictures on Nicholas' blog.  You should check it out the next time you're out on Cannons Campground Road.  Or you should make a special trip out there on November 14th for the opening.  Doris Turner runs a mean art program at Cannons and has cool new art shows in the school's entrance all the time.  What a good way to promote local artists and to expose Cannon's students to great art.  Thank you Doris.  And thank you Derya and Nicholas for putting it all together.

Here Comes the Bride 3October2007So much is happening these days that its hard to keep track of it all.  Saturday night we all helped celebrate Sara and Brad's marriage during their lovely wedding ceremony which took place in their backyard beneath two huge oak trees.  The weather was perfect, the classical guitar was perfect, the bride and groom were glowing...the whole things was...well...perfect.  Sara and Brad have two scarecrows from last years Scarecore Wedding that lean against their fence in the backyard.  They asked the artists to play in a band of kazoos to que the start of the ceremony.  We hummed our best rendition of "Here Comes The Bride"...and if I do say so myself, it was pretty darn good.  The ceremony really reminded me what a unique and amazing community we have here.  Thanks Sara and Brad for letting us all be a part of your big day.

Going Elsewhere 26September2007 It's been a busy week everybody.  I took an adventuresome trip to North Carolina last Thursday and while I usually focus on the artists, I think I'll share a little of my experience.  Highlights included an intimate presentation to 15 MFA students at Chapel Hill about HubBub's residency (everyone was very impressed), a free ticket to Cirque de Soleil in Greensboro (where the man seated next to me becamse very friendly...he put his arm around me at one point and kept offering me popcorn), and finally a 3 hour tour of an amazing artist-in-residence program in Greensboro called "Elsewhere".  Elsewhere is the craziest place I've ever been (see photo).  Basically, artists come and live in this space for a month and create site specific installations out of all the junk that has been housed in this: ex-furniture-store-turned-army-surplus-store-turned-thrift-shop-turned-house-of-pact-rat for the last 50 years.  You wouldn't believe it.  Learn more at www.elsewhereelsewhere.org Tuesday I drove down to Savannah to give a presentation at SCAD.  Tune in next week for an update on that.

And now for an update on the artists because...well...they've been busy too.
