Hub-Bub Halloween 7November2007 Wow - time is flying!  I can't believe that it's November already.  Halloween seems like old news but it was just a week ago.  Do you recognize the folks in the picture?  Those are our AIRs dressed up in traditional Halloween costumes.  They were very scary.  Terrifying even.  "The Nightmare before Dickens of a Christmas" was truly amazing - dancing, costume contests, great food...we all had a blast.  And then...it was over!  In the course of a week, The Showroom went from a gallery space filled with sculptures and paintings/prints by local artists to a gallery space draped in black fabric and filled with big orange lanterns, Hoondirt sculptures, and electric green trees to a gallery space exhibiting the work of Andrew Blanchard and Teresa Prater.  Man oh man....

Nightmare Before Dickens of a Christmas 31October2007 Well...the girls are out of the box.  They came out Sunday morning after 5 days and 4 nights of living in the storefront windows of 100 East Main.  It was pretty dern intense but seems they had a good time and met lots of great folks.  Read their blogs...images and stories are posted there.  They emerged on Sunday and have since taken showers, slept in their own beds, cooked in their own kitchens, and picked back up with art-making and writing in the comfort of their own private studios.  Back to reality and on to the next projects...bowling balls and the Halloween party...because as you should know by now...things don't slow down around here.

They Live There Now 24October2007We knew it would happen one day and that day is now.  Arielle and Rachel have decided to pack their bags and move into a couple storefront windows on Main Street for 5 days and 4 nights.  Yup...they'll be sleeping, talking on the phone, checking their e-mail etc from the windows of 100 East Main from today until Sunday the 28th.  They'll also be making art, writing, playing charades with passer-bys, throwing a tea party, and a dance party, and making audio and video recordings...among other things.  They've put a tremendous amount of time and effort into this already.  Maybe you've read their mission statement, rules, and schedule on their blogs.  They've got big plans for this amazing project/adventure so please stop by and visit them.  I'm sure they would love to see you!

I Can Since last Friday, visions of baklava and spinach pie have danced in my head.  I've been dreaming of leeks and hot tea and warm bread with sesame seeds...so much that I wake up practically full, so much that I can't wait to go back to sleep, so much that I hope I get to celebrate Eid again next year!  Thanks Derya for inviting us to celebrate Ramadan and for providing one of the most amazing meals I've ever had.  You would not believe what this girl threw together on Friday morning.  While sitting around her dining room table; surrouded by the AIRs, Betsy, and Stephen; I kept looking at her kitchen and thinking "my kitchen looks a lot like her kitchen but there's no way my kitchen could do something like this."  If it could, my kitchen would retire.  It would hang up its gloves and live happily ever after.  It would proudly display a trophy of some sorts...possibly a triangle of baklava caste in gold rested triumphantly on its countertops.  Thank you Derya.  And thank you for the thoughtful gifts.  It was a wonderful and festive day...
