Over the course of two years, Rebecca and David traded artwork back and forth via the United States Post Office adding to each work as it changed hands. Throughout this process, David and Rebecca never met in person - he lives in Pittsburgh, she lives in Southern CA. They found that working together was a way to communicate on a purely creative level. The work debuted at Moxie Dada in Pittsburgh in January 2007 where the two artists met at the opening night reception for the first time. The exhibit has since been shown at Phd Gallery in St. Louis and Tangent Lab in Wichita, working its way across the U.S. in much the same way the pieces themselves traveled between the artists.

Rebecca Trawick has been working as a collage artist/illustrator and  calligrapher since her days as a poor art student in Minneapolis, MN. Vintage ephemera have become an obsession for her - finding the perfect piece of paper, a photo, a map, a button or image is her goal. She is also obsessed with letter-writing, handwriting, mail art and the art of correspondence. She has shown at Moxie DaDa Gallery, Pittsburgh, PA; Rogue Buddha, Minneapolis, MN; Blue Ruin Gallery, Pittsburgh, PA; Galleria D'arte, Modern E Contemporanea, Bondeno, Italy; Treehouse Gallery, Los Angeles, CA, among others. Her lettering and illustration have been featured in Somerset Studios, ME's Home Companion, Bustt magazine, Lollipop magazine, Garage Magazine and many others. David Wallace is a collage artist, painter, graphic designer, illustrator, musician and amateur gardener living in Pittsburgh. His “intelligent and impeccably crafted”  (Bethesda Gazette) work has been shown in galleries and museums in Pennsylvania, D.C., Ohio and New York.  David has been making art for as long as he can remember but found an obsession with the collage process just over a decade ago. Scouring yard sales, flea markets and antique stores, he searches for photos, letters, notebooks and other materials that represent a lost history, and don’t cost more than five bucks.  Here’s what the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review’s Kurt Shaw had to say about David’s collage work:  “He can take anything from a half-filled out piece of old ledger paper to a found photograph, combine these two disparate elements with something like a recipe note card or dry cleaning receipt, and come up with a novel arrangement that speaks volumes about history, humanity or both…a master’s touch.”  David has done graphic and web design for independent filmmakers, psychedelic rock bands, experimental theater companies, puppet festivals and plumbers.  His illustration work was recently featured in the Communication Arts Illustration Annual, a very prestigious honor that made his mother very proud.  In addition to creating art, David has also been working on the stage.  He is the newest member of Pittsburgh’s internationally touring performance troupe Squonk Opera.  As guitarist and contributing visual artist, he will be touring throughout the U.S. this coming season.  See David's artwork online at www.salaczar.com .
